Joana Vasconcelos's trip around the world

Joana Vasconcelos's trip around the world

Sao Paulo is one of the main artistic epicenters today, and Joana Vasconcelos has created the spectacular exhibition "Around the World" at Casa Triangulo in the Brazilian city. The prominent Portuguese artist, known for her spectacular sculptures and monumental installations that fuse artisanal elements with industrial and pop concepts, is creating her third exhibition at the gallery.

Works never before exhibited in Brazil will be on view until July 26th, exploring the world through a focus on female identity. Joana Vasconcelos was the first female artist to exhibit at the Palace of Versailles and is one of the most sought-after artists on the contemporary scene. At Casa Triángulo, a tour will be created as a tribute to women such as Ginette Dior and Léonie La Fontaine.

Valkyrie Leonie is a monumental sculpture suspended from Dior fabrics. It is a work of enormous dimensions, seven meters wide, and was first exhibited in Paris. Vasconcelos intervenes in space and explores tensions between the domestic and the exotic, as well as the popular and the elevated, and the feminine and the collective.

Stillness in space before a work that captivates from the first second of dialogue between the work and the gaze, but Vasconcelos masterfully masters fabric, crochet, embroidery, even light. The end result is a powerful physical and symbolic presence. In Room 2, Gotas Dior —also featuring Dior fabrics—presents three hanging sculptures in an exploration of suspension, gesture, and lightness.

The exhibition Joana Vasconcelos: Around the World is a sensorial impact, transforming symbolic and everyday materials into something poetic. Monumental works with an intimate connection between mythology and the present will take the viewer on a journey of absolute impact.
