Yesterday, at a press conference at the Monastery Museum, the aforementioned Festival was presented. The sixth edition of the event will take place from May 30 to July 13 in different emblematic spaces of the city. Twelve exhibitions, talks, screenings, round tables, activities and educational workshops make up the program.

Power relations become the central theme and inspire the essence of this year's edition. "With the image we explore how we can make established power visible and how it affects human relationships, what power relations surround us in our daily lives and how power strategies, such as control, persuasion and influence, among others, can be represented through the photographic medium", explain its directors, Amanda Bernal , Bernat Millet and Marc Vidal . Lumínic presents the samples of three great invited photographers: Paula Artés , Gloria Oyarzabal and Núria López . Paula Artés with Energia sumergida in the Mercantic space, reflects on power relations. Gloria Oyarzabal, Usus Fructus Abusus_La blanche et la noir in Cal Gerrer, explores and highlights the colonizing gaze in different exhibition proposals. Nuria López Torres with Pelo Malo in the Sala Capitular of the Museu del Monestir, presents a project on the Afro pride of Cuban hip-hop singers. Framed in the 50th anniversary of Franco's death, the exhibitions by Jordi Pol , Carlos Bosch , Joan Cabanas and Jordi Jon portray the dictatorship and the transition.

The first weekend, on May 31 and June 1, will also see the second edition of the Photographic Market of Author's Work, hosted by the Mercantic, where you can also enjoy free workshops and activities. Kontrol by Angel Biyanueba at the Cloister of the Monastery Museum, Ashes of Arabian Pearl by Valentin Valette at Abacus and Ciudad secreta by Javier Arboledas at the Moventa Sarsa Skoda dealership illustrate us with their reflections and artistic works on different themes around this year's central axis. The mass surveillance exercised by the state, the hierarchies of Oman in contrast and showing the phenomenon of globalized labor migration or the memories of a Soviet city, are some of the proposals on which they focus their discourse.

Suspender la palabra, by Diana Rangel , Héctor Cavallaro and Ezequiel Rodolfo collaborate in this research-performance, which becomes the first artistic residency of Lumínic and has been conceived expressly for the festival. The result can be seen on May 31 at the Mercantic. This new line of the competition is born with a vocation of continuity in future editions. Together with the Setba Foundation, they present Traspassant l'objectif, a project aimed at women inmates in penitentiary centers in Catalonia and directed by the artist and photographer Marta Fàbregas with the collaboration of the photographers, Sandra Balsells , Tanit Plana , Laura Gálvez-Rhei n, Iolanda Sebé , Laia Abril and Lourdes R. Basolí .

The work created within the framework of Lumínic's educational plan, the result of collaborations with universities and photography schools and of the workshops given by the festival at the Leonardo da Vinci secondary school in Sant Cugat del Vallès, can be seen at the Casa de Cultura, the Celler Modernista and the Gabriel Ferrater Library. The co-directors would like to thank all their collaborators for the support and help they have received, among which the Department of Culture of the Sant Cugat del Vallès City Council should be highlighted.

Long live Lumínic!
