Conxita Herrero: these are things

The Urgell Civic Center hosts the eighth edition of Il·lustríssi+, an initiative that aims to give visibility to the work of women illustrators and graphic artists. Under the title 'They are things', this exhibition offers a selection of works by illustrator Conxita Herrero , providing the opportunity to discover her professional career that has been built from drawings and songs, creating her own universe to survive reality.

Conxita Herrero (Barcelona, 1993) is a young artist who has stood out in avant-garde comics thanks to her powerful and synthetic language, which combines graphic expression and poetry. A declared feminist and fanzine artist, she has participated in several author comics festivals and independent publishing. She has published in national and international media such as El País, Ara, Revista Granta, and also in publishers such as Fantagraphics, Blackie Books, Editorial Barret or Temas de hoy. In 2016, the Apa-Apa Còmics publishing house published her first book, Gran bola de helado, a set of microstories that reflect moods and intimate reflections, drawn with watercolors and delicate strokes.

He has worked for institutions such as MACBA, where the museum intervened in "Revolta en el còmic", and also for Tabakalera or the Diputació de Barcelona. In addition, he participated in "Constel·lació Gràfica" at the CCCB, along with other prominent authors from the country. Internationally, he has exhibited alongside artists such as Powerpaola or Gabriella Bell at "Global Alt Comics", in New Jersey, in 2018.

Now, the Civic Center is dedicating its first retrospective exhibition to him, a show that moves between customs, fantasy and experimentation, and which can be visited until March 25th.
