On the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Vicent Andrés Estellés (Burjassot, 1924-Valencia, 1993), the Foto Torroella association presents a collective exhibition that pays tribute to the renowned Valencian poet. The exhibition, inaugurated on January 31 at the Capella de Sant Antoni in Torroella de Montgrí , brings together thirty-six works by nineteen photographers who have found inspiration in Estellés' verses to create images that enrich and expand the meaning of his poems. This initiative offers a visual perspective of his work, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the depth and beauty of his poetry through photography.
Considered one of the pillars of contemporary Catalan literature, his poetic work, which covers themes such as death, hunger, war, the post-war period and resistance, has had a significant influence on Valencian society and culture. However, the official commemoration of his centenary has been scarce in the Valencian Country, with civil society promoting various acts of homage.
Foto Torroella , founded in 1999, is an organization that brings together amateur photographers mainly from Baix Empordà and the Girona region. With an outstanding history in organizing exhibitions and activities related to photography, the association wanted to join the celebration of the centenary of Estellés with this exhibition that unites literature and visual art. The exhibition can be visited until February 24, before starting a traveling route that will take it to other towns such as Figueres, Santa Cristina d'Aro, Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Salt throughout 2025.
