Three days of art and technology in Poblenou.

Montreal arrives at Llum BCN 2025
bonart barcelona - 29/01/25

Montreal, a city recognized for its commitment to digital art and innovation, will be the star of Llum BCN 2025 , one of the leading light arts festivals. It will do so with two interactive installations: Loop and Impulse. These works, presented by Quartier des Spectacles International in collaboration with the Quebec Office in Barcelona, will bring to the Poblenou neighborhood an experience that will combine art, technology and social interaction.

Loop, created by Olivier Girouard , Jonathan Villeneuve and the Ottoblix studio, is an installation that reinterprets 19th-century zoetropes, transforming them into giant structures where visitors can activate animated images with movement and music. Inspired by literary works by prominent Quebec authors such as Joséphine Bacon and Dany Laferrière , this piece pays homage to Quebec's cultural heritage while transforming public space into a fascinating retro-futuristic spectacle. Loop can be visited at Plaça Josep Antoni Coderch, next to the Disseny Hub Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Impulse, by Lateral Office and CS Design , turns the streets into a musical playground for all ages. This installation, made up of interactive seesaws that combine light, sound and movement, invites participants to play, creating collective melodies and a fully interactive artistic experience. The seesaws will be located on Pere IV Street, between Badajoz and Ciutat de Granada Streets, offering an experience that combines art and play.

Both installations will arrive in Barcelona from February 7 to 9 after triumphing at the Lumino festival , held in Montreal's Quartier des Spectacles, an emblematic cultural district that over the years has become a global benchmark in public art. Quebec's participation in Llum BCN 2025 is the result of a collaboration initiated during Mutek ES last April, and reflects the cultural ties between Quebec and Catalonia.

El Llum BCN continues, for another year, to consolidate itself as an international platform that connects art with technology and people, transforming urban spaces into settings full of light and creativity, and highlighting art as a powerful tool for urban and social transformation.
