Es Baluard Museu has presented its exhibition program for 2025, preparing for a new season in which the pictorial tradition will dialogue with new conceptual and formal paradigms. Its permanent collection, which includes works by Joaquín Mir, Joaquín Sorolla, Maria Blanchard, Fernand Léger, Joan Miró, Antoni Tàpies, Miquel Barceló, Luis Gordillo, Josep Maria Sicília, Ferran García Sevilla, Joan Uslé, Miriam Cahn, Angela de Cruz, Jessica Stockholder and Shinique Smith , will be the foundation for exhibitions that question the traditional boundaries of painting, exploring connections with sculpture, architecture and conceptual art.

The museum's collection will be exhibited in parallel with the development of the first part of the "Nachleben" trilogy, which, around painting as conceptual art, will develop throughout the year, with individual exhibitions including prominent figures such as Eugenio Dittborn , who will present his emblematic 'aeropostal paintings'. These works, sent by mail to different parts of the world, challenge the physical and symbolic boundaries of art, using hybrid techniques and a poetic discourse to explore mobility, the ephemeral and the global. José Fiol , for his part, will present a project that fuses cinema, sport and history through montage and cut-up techniques, creating a fragmented narrative that reconfigures the past and interrogates memory and creation. The project intertwines the 1975 Wimbledon tennis final with the cinematic reinterpretation of Vertigo (1958) in the experimental film The Green Fog (2017), directed by Guy Maddin.

Jessica Stockholder will offer a new proposal entitled 'Cardinal Directions', where she expands the boundaries of painting towards sculpture and architecture. Using everyday objects and vivid colors, he transforms the space into a dynamic scene that challenges conventional perception, claiming painting as a language in constant evolution. Markus Linnenbrink will present a site-specific project that will transform the spaces of Es Baluard and Casal Solleric into immersive environments, where painting merges with architecture.

Joan Miró will be revisited with an exhibition that presents his pictorial universe as a map of ideas, underlining his validity as a pioneer of the constant transformation of painting and his legacy as a central figure in modern art. In addition, artists such as Sandra Cinto , Adrián Martínez and Elisa Braem will offer a more interdisciplinary vision of painting.

Sandra Cinto , through her lyrical and symbolic work, uses drawing to create landscapes between fantasy and reality. His proposal, presented for the first time in the Balearic Islands, integrates into the architectural space of Es Baluard, offering an immersive experience. Adrián Martínez will explore the local landscape with organic materials and natural dyes, creating works that reflect on the dichotomy between nature and urbanity through abstract landscapes. Elisa Braem will present her research on the interactions between light, color and matter, exploring the sedimentary nature of clay and the brilliance of porcelain.

The program of the year will close with the artist Jannis Kounellis , painter, sculptor, linked to performance and representative of Arte Povera. With a transgressive look, he recovers pictorial practice as a "logical question", constructing space through objects and transforming it pictorially. What is accumulated and ordered reveals a new space, maintaining the essence of the painting. His process explores the poetic side of the human experience, where tension and energy shape a presentation that invites thought and poetic decoding.

With this program, the museum proposes a year to reflect on the past, rethink the present and imagine the future of painting, a language that, from its material essence, continues to expand its conceptual horizons.
