"Landscapes of melodies and perfumes" opens the celebration of les Bernardes' forty years

On March 31, the new series of exhibitions, Landscapes of melodies and perfumes, was inaugurated at the Cultural Center Les Bernardes in Salt on the occasion of the celebration of 40 years of Les Bernardes.

During the course of the event, the exhibition block of the Les Bernardes Cultural Center was presented, which runs from April to July 2023 and which has among the most outstanding proposals: The country where the lemon tree blooms, which transmits the eternal beauty of these fruit trees and citrus fruits. Readymade in the vegetable garden, by Cristina Navarro; Social league, from the Salt photographic group) and Illustrated music, by Xavi Ramiro.

As for the exhibition Readymade in the garden of Cristina Navarro from Murcia, it is a conceptual work composed of a photographic series of ten pieces, made in the artist's studio where Cristina has built a stage illuminated with light direct artificial The absolute protagonists of these photographs are the natural citrus fruits (oranges, lemons, tangerines, etc...) collected in the Murcia vegetable garden.
The "readymade", known in Spanish as "found art", is the most widespread artistic expression of the Dadaist movement and had its greatest representative in Marcel Duchamp. This artistic current sought to break with institutionalized art that conceived the artistic piece as something sacred that could only live in a museum. Today the readymade is still present in the artistic scene and has become a very valuable tool to convey concepts in a poetic form.

In this photographic series, oranges, grapefruits, limes are decontextualized from their usual surroundings, illuminated
elegant and hung on pedestals, with the specific intention of giving them the category of artistic objects.

These scenes are presented to us as a geometric game where the spherical pieces are opposed in an infinite balance on the solid and stable plaster pedestals, establishing according to the artist: "A dialogue between the organic and the functional, between the fluid and the aesthetic." Through this exhibition, the photographer expresses the importance of valuing the everyday, since according to her "I am passionate about finding beauty in these small, discreet and quiet things that surround us". But in the vindication of the ordinary subject it goes beyond the aesthetic value, and also tells us about the value of traditions and the importance of appreciating our roots, sometimes undervalued and forgotten.

Cristina Navarro was born in Lorca in 1983 and the topic of citrus fruits has always been present in her life. In 2022 she moved to Murcia to start her studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts and graduate in advertising in 2007. She also works as a graphic designer for different schools in Murcia. In 2018 she created her personal project Múrcia Mola and currently works as a freelance photographer in her own studio. For his part, Xavi Ramiro presents his exhibition entitled Música illustrada in which he draws the images that evoke certain songs, music that for a mystery of the unconscious has accompanied him for years and that he always listened to again. According to the illustrator, "these are subjects that talk about love and heartbreak, about fears and obsessions, about dreams and desires, that describe enchanting places or hellish places, mystical experiences and other very earthly ones. And all this variety I wanted to show it drawn" and adds that "I convert the stories of each song into shapes and colors and give a graphic dimension to these musical and literary works, photographing what goes through my imagination".

Xavi Ramiro (Portbou, 1972) is an illustrator based in Girona with an extensive professional career and great versatility in applying his style in the various fields of illustration. He has won two Junceda Awards, and is the current president of the APIC (Professional Association of Illustrators of Catalonia). For years, he has been working in his most artistic facet, with projects of a more personal and introspective nature.

Reform works completed
On the other hand, it should be noted that the Cultural Center Les Bernardes de Salt was also able to celebrate that the reform works have been completely finished.

With these works, accessibility to the building has been improved, the access from the main street has been changed to a new lateral one, more exhibition spaces have been gained and the access has become clearer and brighter in the church With all this, a long process of improvements to the facility that began approximately ten years ago is completed.
