(RE) WE BEGIN

(RE) WE BEGIN
bonart girona - 10/01/22

They say time is one of the few things we still have left. The exercise of editing is the act of fixing time, which slips away fleetingly. To do so in the middle of the 21st century is to try to embrace all the different platforms we have at our disposal - which are not few - to make time an ally. The (re) beginning of Bonart is, therefore, the story of more than twenty years of the whole Planas Camps family devoted to a cultural project of building an imaginary of an inclusive country, understanding culture from a broad perspective - from from tangible and intangible heritage to contemporary art, architecture or design - and understanding us as a platform for connections and reception, knowing that culture gives us life and can be a first-class social elevator .

This next issue 194 has been preceded by a (re) start that has not been easy. We have had the pandemic and all that it has meant for the culture sector in the budgetary sphere; we have had the unstoppable expansion of the digital sector within the day-to-day of information and cultural reflection, which makes us continually rethink everything. But, above all, we have had a heart disease that has been about to leave us without the president of Bonart, Narcís Planas, one of the souls of this project for years together with the other soul of the company, Anna Maria Camps; both will continue on the publisher’s advisory board. In the end, and after meditating and thanks to the complicity of a lot of people in the art sector, we have dared not only to continue working in digital format differently, as we had already announced, but to make a firm commitment for the role and further enhance the entire area of the cultural manager and consultant.

From Bonart to Malart: paper magazine, pause and reflection

Yes, from Bonart to Malart. We want to be a little more rogue and humor is an antidote to human stupidity. Ask yourself: what is good art ?, and what is bad art? Questioning everything, as art and culture do incessantly, provoking more questions than answers. And to question the very name of the publication, which is a tribute that the publisher Anna Maria Camps borrowed from the name of the French artist Pierre Bonnard, while glancing at the legendary French magazine Beaux Arts . The new design is the work of the prestigious graphic designer Pere Álvaro, with the advice of Josep Olivé –designer / layout designer in charge of the publication– and the rest of the editorial team. The coordination has been carried out by the art historian and critic Beatriz G. Moreno, who has been collaborating with the publisher and cultural manager for more than ten years, and Pilar Andreu has joined as the new head of linguistic correction.

Thus, the new Bonart, which will be released twice a year - in February and September - can be accessed on two sides and each has a different paper design and texture. If we access it through Bonart, we will find three major interrelated areas: opinion articles, interviews and reports to reflect on a current situation that sometimes becomes too liquid. We have made agreements to amplify the dissemination of content generated by major centers in the country. We also talk about cinema, the art market and the legal frameworks of the artistic environment.

Whereas, if we access it through Malart, we will find in the foreground a portfolio of creation-reflection coordinated by the A * Desk portal. We do this in order to add synergies between cultural agents and under the leitmotif of reset we propose scenarios of a present-future post-Covid. In Malart, we will also find the library section, amplified, and all the art critiques that delve into a “subjectivist” discourse to emphasize a profession that is more than necessary in today's society. The paper magazine will also have a digital format that can be found at the kiosk of the APPEC association and also through the ARCE portal.

The mobile as a paradigm: digital newspaper or how we understand what is everyday

All life in one hand. It may be an exaggeration, but the truth is that the mobile phone has replaced a lot of other tools that were used to organize, communicate and understand what is everyday. Along with the new paper magazine, the digital newspaper is also changing its façade. Tecnològicament presentem un portal optimitzat per als mòbils, amb traduccions en català, castellà, anglès i francès i amb una arquitectura més flexible que posarà cada dia les notícies d'actualitat a l'abast de tothom. One main news will be the one in charge of giving the good morning. And Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are the networks chosen to disseminate current news and reflections that will also have a place. The creator of all this architecture has been David Gironella, who has also done a task to generate a whole tool to manage more and better the contents and to be able to search for the more than 50,000 entries published for more than a decade. The graphic part has been taken care of by Associated Churches, with the supervision of Bonart's team. Xevi Fernández –Infetec– continues to strengthen the technological structure in everyday logistics.

Cultural advice: we help to transform through art

Helping to transform through art and culture, the resilience of cultural agents and culture as a subject that psychologically changes paradigms and amplifies horizons. This is the main goal of the adviser Bonart for almost more than fifteen years. Bonart Cultural works for public and private administrations throughout Catalonia in order to promote the country's creators, creation and heritage. Among his most outstanding projects are the realization of the Inart fair in Girona for two editions and the operational management for more than eleven years of the Fundació Lluís Coromina.

He is currently supporting, among others, the Carles Fontserè Universe, the Girona Est Foundation and the Angelus Novus Foundation - Walter Benjamin House. For three years, the manager has been technically directing the strategic plan for Culture of L'Escala City Council, collaborating in the cultural contents of Girona FM and is also in close collaboration with the town councils of Palamós and Castell -Platja d'Aro to promote modern and contemporary art. It is currently organizing an action within the European Year of Railways, with an action for Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) and the Museu Nacional de la Ciència i la Tècnica de Catalunya (MNACTEC). In this area there are two essential collaborators, the managers Daniel Fuentes and Carlota Ramoneda, as well as a wide range of collaborators who have been nurturing the ecosystem of interactions of the Bonartian network.

This (re) start also has a more marked generational change, although Bonart likes the intergenerational mix. Ricard Planas becomes the sole editor, Carlota Ramoneda is the assistant manager and Alexandra Planas is the head of dissemination and advertising support.
