Estampa returns to Madrid with more than a thousand artists and a renewed perspective on contemporary art
Madrid will once again become a hub for the contemporary art market with a new edition of Estampa, the fair that has held a prominent place on the Spanish capital's art calendar for over three decades. In its 34th edition, to be held from September 24 to 27, 2026, the event will bring together more than 80 galleries and around a thousand artists in a program that combines established galleries with an open approach to the diverse forms that contemporary art takes.
After more than 33 years, Estampa has established its autumn edition as a leading event for experiencing the vibrancy of contemporary art in Spain. Its mission extends beyond the purely commercial aspects of an art fair, bringing together a selection of galleries with curated spaces and projects that allow visitors to explore other facets of contemporary art. In this way, the event connects artists, gallery owners, collectors, and new audiences interested in approaching art from diverse perspectives.
Among the participants in this edition are galleries such as 1MiraMadrid, Max Estrella, Espacio Mínimo, Cayón, Moisés Pérez de Albéniz, Rio & Meñaka, Álvaro Alcázar, and Rafael Pérez Hernando, all from Madrid, as well as ArtNueve from Murcia and Polígrafa from Barcelona, representing a broad cross-section of the Spanish gallery scene. The presence of these spaces allows for a diverse overview of the artistic practices currently circulating in the national market, ranging from well-established artists to those working with new generations of creators.
One of the highlights of this edition will be the participation of Esther Ferrer as a guest artist. The artist will present a piece conceived specifically for Estampa, reinforcing the fair's commitment to including figures who have decisively contributed to expanding the boundaries of contemporary art. Ferrer is one of the great pioneers of performance art in Spain and a key figure in conceptual art, with an international career spanning more than five decades. Her practice has also extended to collage, photography, drawing, and sound art, making her an international reference point for artistic experimentation.
Ferrer's presence introduces a particularly significant dimension to a fair that seeks to foster dialogue between traditional market structures and the more experimental forms of contemporary creation. His work reminds us that art is not limited to objects intended for exhibition or collection, but can also develop as action, thought, process, or experience.
For four days, Estampa will also offer the opportunity to purchase contemporary and modern artworks, as well as art publications and specialized books. The event thus maintains a dual purpose: to function as a professional platform for the gallery sector and, at the same time, as a space for a broad and diverse audience to engage with artistic creation.
