Bonart arrives in Bogotá with ARTBO as a new meeting point
Colombia has become one of Bonart's main international expansion hubs. Following its launch on September 22nd at the Museum of Modern Art of Medellín (MAMM), the project now moves to Bogotá, coinciding with ARTBO, one of the major Latin American contemporary art events. The Colombian capital thus becomes a new point of dialogue for a publication that seeks to establish lasting connections between Catalan art and the Colombian art scene.
Within this framework, ARTBO visitors can discover a new issue of Bonart International, the third of this international edition, which dedicates a significant monographic focus to Colombia. The publication delves into the country's artistic and cultural scene and offers a perspective that goes beyond mere observation to champion exchange between territories, artists, and institutions. Alongside the magazine, the Visions of Catalonia project furthers this commitment to dialogue by showcasing diverse approaches to contemporary Catalan art within an international context.
Bonart's presence in Colombia also incorporates an audiovisual dimension and direct conversations with some of the key figures in its cultural landscape. Ricard Planas, director and founder of Bonart, is currently in Bogotá with Fernando Cuevas, recording several podcasts. Guests include Santiago Trujillo, Bogotá's Secretary of Culture, and Rafael Tamayo, director of the MAMM (Museum of Modern Art of Medellín), two voices associated with leading institutions. These contributions broaden our understanding of Colombia's cultural dynamics and establish new avenues for dialogue with the Catalan publishing project.
Bonart's Colombian program continues on Saturday, September 26th, with the second Bonart International event in the country. The chosen venue is the Museu Negret in Bogotá, and the event will feature Catalan artist El Xupet Negre, further strengthening the connection between Catalan art and the Colombian cultural scene.
The presentation will bring together El Xupet Negre himself, along with Ricard Planas and Edgar David Buitrago Mancilla, director of the Museu Negret. Fernando Cuevas and David Places, representing the Generalitat of Catalonia, will also participate. The event is envisioned as a new opportunity to present the publication and, at the same time, to further explore the cultural ties that Bonart is building in Colombia.
The series of activities in Medellín and Bogotá thus outlines a presence that aims to transcend the traditional format of a book launch. Exhibitions, publications, talks, podcasts, and institutional meetings are all part of the same strategy: to position Bonart as a platform for exchange between Catalonia and Colombia and to create new spaces for the circulation of artists, ideas, and projects.
