The Vigo Museum of Contemporary Art presents the exhibition "An Illustrated Country ," in collaboration with Editorial Galaxia, the Penzol Foundation, and the Pontevedra Provincial Council. This exhibition highlights the prominence and relevance of the designers who worked at Editorial Galaxia throughout its 75-year history. Through the publisher's designs and imagery, the covers are displayed, organized chronologically and thematically, allowing visitors to trace their evolution over time.

The exhibition begins with a contextualization of Editorial Galaxia as a project, from the motivations of its founders in 1950 to the new horizons of the current team. It highlights the figure of Xaime Isla Couto for his little-known role in the design of the publishing house.

The exhibition is organized into four sections corresponding to the periods when Xohán Ledo (1950-1970), Francisco Mantecón (1979-1985), Manuel Janeiro (1979-2010), and Hayat Husein (2010 to the present) led the editorial design. At the end of the room, a selection of paintings exemplifies how Editorial Galaxia chose details from artworks to illustrate the covers of its books and collections.

The project also includes an area dedicated to children's literature, somewhere between an exhibition hall and an experimental space. Alongside copies of the first children's and young adult books in Galician published by Galaxia, a current selection and versions of literary classics are on display.

Curated by Xurxo Martínez, the exhibition highlights the importance of this Galician publishing house and its influence on culture and reading in Galicia, marking a turning point in editorial design and Galician culture.
