One of the most noteworthy aspects of this selection is the strong representation of female artists: nine of the fourteen creators—64%—are women. Furthermore, the majority of the works are by Spanish artists and from Spanish galleries, reinforcing the local art scene within the international context of contemporary art.
The operation also represents a significant expansion of the museum's holdings, as nine of the fourteen artists incorporated were not previously represented in the Reina Sofía collection, becoming part of it for the first time.

The selection was made according to several curatorial criteria. These include increasing the presence of women artists in the collection, incorporating artistic practices underrepresented in the museum's holdings, and strengthening existing lines of research at the institution. In this regard, the acquisitions include works related to action art and performance art, textile art, conceptual and material art, and relational art, as well as completing the representation of important names in the contemporary art scene that were not previously included in the museum's collections.
