bonart madrid - 04/03/26

Starting this Wednesday, ARCOmadrid 2026 celebrates its 45th edition with more than 200 galleries from 40 countries, solidifying its position as an essential meeting point for collectors, artists, and contemporary art lovers. The fair aims to attract a young audience with works ranging from 500 euros to several million, while also fostering debate on the future of contemporary art and providing a platform for gallery owners to voice their concerns and express solidarity in times of change.

Prominent presence of Catalan galleries

Galleries in Catalonia are once again playing a key role in the national and international art scene. From established spaces to emerging galleries, they offer a diverse selection that reflects the vitality of their artists and their capacity for innovation in formats, themes, and collecting strategies. Among the participating galleries are ADN, Àngels Barcelona, Bombon Projects, Chiquita Room, EtHall, Galería Alegría, House of Chappaz, Marc Domènech, Mayoral, Miguel Marcos, Prats Nogueras Blanchard, ProjectSD, RocioSantaCruz, Senda, and Zielinsky, showcasing a renewed vision of contemporary art that combines risk-taking, experimentation, and quality.

International participation and special sections

In total, the fair brings together 211 galleries from 30 countries, 175 of which are part of the General Program. The rest are distributed among curated sections: 'ARCO2045: the future, for now' with 17 galleries; 'Opening. New galleries' with 19; and 'Profiles | Latin American Art' with 12.

34% of the galleries are Spanish and 66% are international. Among the latter, more than 31% come from Latin America, representing 11 countries, with a particularly strong presence from Brazil and Argentina.

The fair also features special programs that combine innovation and diversity. 'Opening. New Galleries' showcases emerging spaces less than eight years old; 'Profiles | Latin American Art' brings together 11 prominent artists from the region; and 'Artist Projects' presents 38 unique projects. Under the theme 'ARCO2045: the future, for now,' two spaces are designed to encourage reflection and exhibit groundbreaking and critical works, shaping a vision for the future of contemporary art.

Works for all budgets

Among the most prominent pieces is Juan Gris's * The Bunch of Grapes * (1917), offered for €4.2 million at Leandro Navarro's gallery, alongside other works by the artist presented as a tribute. Meanwhile, the Ponce+Robles gallery in Madrid is offering more affordable works starting at €500, including small collages by Jesús Hernández, as well as pieces by other artists priced between €1,000 and €1,500, demonstrating that contemporary art can be accessible to a wide range of audiences.

Confirmation of institutional purchases

The fair has already received confirmations of acquisitions from important institutions, including the Reina Sofía Museum, the Community of Madrid, the Madrid City Council, the Junta de Andalucía, the IVAM, Es Baluard, the María José Jove Foundation Art Center, the Sorigué Foundation and the María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation, among others, consolidating its role as a driving force of the market and public collection of contemporary art.
