The White Night transforms Gijón into a great stage for art and culture
bonart gijón - 25/09/25

Gijón's White Night is a cultural event that marks the start of the city's post-summer artistic season. It is held each year in various venues throughout Gijón—museums, galleries, cultural centers, and streets—with a varied program that includes concerts, theater, dance, exhibitions, light installations, children's workshops, guided tours, and artistic interventions.

Its essence is based on four fundamental pillars: citizenship, free access, sustainability, and innovation. Most activities are free, although some require prior registration or have limited capacity.

During this special night, September 26th, culture is experienced in an open and participatory way, with events that begin at dusk and last until midnight, transforming Gijón into a grand stage where creativity, artistic diversity, and innovation are accessible to all.

In this edition, 21 venues spread across Gijón will host nearly 40 free activities concentrated in a few hours, with offerings that combine music, theater, dance, visual arts, installations, and participatory activities for all audiences. One of the highlights of the program will be a performance by the Asturian alternative rock band Puño Dragón, who will rock the Plaza del Instituto with their powerful, contemporary sound. The musical evening will continue at the Antiguo Instituto, where, well after midnight, the duo Playback Maracas will offer a concert full of energy, electronic rhythms, and experimental sound.

Art galleries will participate with a variety of offerings, ranging from exhibitions to workshops and live performances. The ATM Gallery will host guided tours of the Flex Plex exhibition by artist Sahatsa Jauregi, while the Aurora Vigil-Escalera Gallery will host a panel discussion with Lisardo Menéndez, Tadanori Yamaguchi, and Fernando Castro Flórez. At the Bea Villamarín Gallery, floral artist Adrián de la Torre will take center stage, offering a workshop on ephemeral creation.

The Galería Escondida will host classical dance by Mares Danza and live painting by José Arias, while the Galería Félix will present the exhibition Efímero by Isa González Díaz. There will also be a collective space at Ora Labora Studio, with the Re-apertura exhibition, which will bring together several artists. The list of participating galleries is completed by Espacio Líquido, La Salita, Galería Llamazares, and Sala Sola, which will open their doors to bring the public the latest in the art scene.

The program also extends to Gijón's museums and cultural institutions, which will provide a historical and heritage context for the evening. The Campo Valdés Roman Baths Museum, the Jovellanos Birthplace, the Nicanor Piñole Museum, the Asturias Railway Museum, and the Celestino Solar Citadel will offer special activities that will allow visitors to rediscover these spaces from new perspectives.

The Antiguo Instituto Cultural Center will become one of the main focuses of the evening, along with the LABoral Center for Art and Industrial Creation , the Evaristo Valle Museum, the Revillagigedo Palace, the Conseyu de Mocedá de Xixón and the Antigua Rula Exhibition Hall, which will add exhibition proposals, concerts and artistic interventions.

With this combination of contemporary art, historical heritage, music, and citizen participation, Gijón's White Night will once again transform the city into a unique cultural mosaic, where every corner offers a new way of experiencing and experiencing artistic creation.

The White Night not only aims to bring culture closer to the public, but also transforms the city into a vast open stage, where the public can discover innovative proposals in emblematic and often unexpected locations. It is an event characterized by free access, participation, and avant-garde, which year after year reaffirms Gijón's position as a benchmark in the dissemination of contemporary art and the creation of unique cultural experiences.
