From March 14 to July 6, La Pedrera hosts the spectacular Sean Scully exhibition, the most comprehensive retrospective of the Dublin artist created to date. He is one of the leading figures in the contemporary abstract art scene, featuring more than sixty works, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, and photographs.

In 2015, the artist created a permanent intervention in the chapel of Santa Cecília in Montserrat. This artistic project is part of the mountain's distinctive features; however, it took Sean Scully almost a decade to complete the entire project, comprising 27 pieces of various sizes.

On the occasion of the La Pedrera exhibition, one of the main activities was a guided tour of Scully's space at Santa Cecilia de Montserrat. A place where art, contemporaneity, spirituality, a place of pilgrimage, and a contemplative atmosphere come together, creating a historical heritage of ongoing dialogue. Scully created a space that transports the eye to other places in the form of chapels, such as the one created by Rothko in Houston or Matisse and the Tabernacle Chapel.

Sean Scully designed triptychs, polyptychs, frescoes, crosses, and stained-glass windows inside the church, creating an important combination during the exhibition at La Pedrera. Scully is a temporary presence in the Barcelona space and a permanent presence at Montserrat, achieving a remarkable balance between the modern and the sacred, between abstraction and the spiritual, with installations that go beyond the visual.

The guided tour of Santa Cecilia Espai Sean Scully concluded with a concert by the Barcelona Clarinet Players, featuring music by Bernat Vivancos inspired by Scully's work. During the visit, copies of Bonart magazine and issue 201 were also distributed, featuring the special issue "Monserrat" and a cover featuring a work by Sean Scully: The Contemporary Artistic and Heritage Legacy, with texts by Marga Viza i Boltas, Francesc Fontbona, Sílvia Muñoz d'Imbert, Ricard Planas Camps, Pilar Parcerisas, and Arcadi Pla i Masmiquel.
