This evening, the headquarters of the Girona Demarcation of the College of Architects of Catalonia (COAC) hosted a new edition of its annual awards, which have become a key event for the world of architecture in the province. This year, the recognition was distributed among thirteen projects selected from a rich list of proposals that included architecture, interiors, landscapes and ephemeral interventions.
In the architecture category, two works that shared the award stood out: the Ripoll Sports Center, by MH.AP Studio and Sergi Serrat Guillén, and the Molí del Senyor, signed by CMV Architects. In addition, mentions were given to projects such as the Casa tres patis in Albons, by Twobo Arquitectura; Butterfly in Gaüses (Vilopriu), by Tallerdarquitectura; Casa 012 in Sant Gregori, by Camps Felip Arquitectura; De la clausura a l'ouverture in Olot, by Barbacana taller d'arquitectura, and Jardí habitable in Capmany, by Estudi Toni Gironès.

In the interiors section, the grand prize went to the CD22 House in Girona, a project by INCOVI and Josep M Coll that also won the Opinion Prize , chosen by the public. The category also received a special mention for the Citizen Service Offices OAC in Olot, by Estudio Além. In the landscapes section, the intervention in the Plaça Major in Olot, promoted by Un Parell d'Arquitectes with Quim Domene and Pep de Solà-Morales, was awarded, while the Consolidation of Ruin and Accessibility in Vilafant, the work of Joan Falgueras Font, received an outstanding mention. In ephemerals , the project that captivated the jury was L'essència de l'ànima, created by second-year students of applied sculpture and decoration at the Olot School of Art.

All the winners and shortlisted candidates will receive a diploma that this year has a special added value: the reproduction of an engraving by Josep Miàs Guifré . This piece is part of the private collection of the Penney family, in Charleston (USA), and shares prominence with the Centre Pompidou in Paris, where original drawings of the project for the iGuzzini headquarters in Sant Cugat del Vallès are also preserved.
The jury —formed by María José Aranguren , Joan M. Viader and Juana Sánchez— highlighted the architects' efforts to improve living spaces, despite the difficulties arising from strict regulations and limited resources. They noted the notable absence of works related to housing and public facilities, a deficiency that they consider worrying for social cohesion and that they hope the administrations will begin to alleviate.

The winning proposals can be seen on display until September 14 in the Pia Almoina room of the Girona Demarcation of the COAC, where they are displayed on illuminated panels to highlight each of the categories. In addition, until the end of June, several emblematic squares in Girona, Figueres, Olot and Banyoles host temporary structures that display reproductions of the selected projects, making the most recent architecture reach a wide and diverse audience.
