Joan Torras Ragué has announced his departure from the Fundació Privada Antoni Vila Casas after 16 years of dedication at the head of the project. In a statement, Torras explained that the decision was made by the Foundation's Board of Trustees, due to strategic differences.
"I made a commitment to Mr. Vila Casas to follow his legacy, but the Foundation's line points in another direction that I do not share," said Torras. Despite the end of this stage, the director is satisfied with the work done and the relationships built over the years: "I have had the opportunity to lead an exciting project, always following the will and the line marked out by Mr. Vila Casas, together with an extraordinary team of people."
Joan Torras began his career at the Foundation by directly accompanying Antoni Vila Casas, founder of the entity created in 1986. Throughout this time, he has held the positions of general director and treasurer, becoming a key player in the smooth running and projection of one of the most relevant cultural institutions in Catalonia. Recently, the Foundation has gone through a period of transformation after the death of its creator, a complex challenge that has been successfully faced despite the difficulties associated with the loss of such a decisive figure. During this process, Torras has been fundamental in guaranteeing the stability and continuity of the organization, always maintaining fidelity to the values and original vision of Antoni Vila Casas.
