The concessionaire of Terminal G of the Port of Barcelona, CCTG, has launched a call for the creation of a participatory sculpture that will be located in the future infrastructure that is being built on the esplanade of the Moll Adossat and that will be inaugurated in April 2027. This artistic work aims to be a meeting point and connection between citizens, travelers, artists and the port community, in a space that will combine logistical, tourist, educational and cultural functions throughout the year.
The initiative, called Icon Art – BCN , has been designed by art director Ana Vivero , and is open to artists, designers, architects and creative teams residing in the province of Barcelona, both emerging and established. The aim is to select a sculptural project that reflects the values of Terminal G: the relationship with the Mediterranean Sea, the connection between people and innovation as an engine of transformation.

Additionally, the artist or creative team is required to develop, together with the sculptural work, a community participation proposal. Each artist or collective will define which community they wish to work with. This proposal must document and share the creative process, generating spaces for active participation, connecting people and knowledge, and promoting new learning and innovation in the design of artistic processes. The artist or creative team will assume responsibility for the creation and execution of the project within the established period, from conceptualization to production and installation of the sculpture in the Terminal G lobby, guaranteeing compliance with the requirements specified in these bases, which will also be reflected in the contract with the company CCTG. The chosen project will have an economic allocation of 350,000 euros and comprehensive support for the transport, assembly and installation of the work.
The selection process begins with an information session and to resolve doubts on May 29 at 6 p.m. (registration here ), and the deadline for submitting applications ends on June 29, 2025. The final resolution will be announced during the week of October 27, 2025 .
