After years of consolidating itself as an international reference in the world of video and moving images, Loop Barcelona is opening a new stage in South Korea. With the name Loop Lab Busan , this new initiative is committed to broadening horizons and opening new avenues of collaboration between artists, galleries and the international public. The city of Busan, with an already very active cultural scene and connected to the Asian circuit, will host this meeting dedicated to audiovisual practices and new media, following the model that has made Loop an essential meeting point in Barcelona.

The event will be held from 24 to 26 April 2025 at the Grand Josun Busan Hotel. Featuring a selection of 25 international and local galleries , the program will showcase a range of proposals that combine video, expanded cinema, installation, digital art and new technologies. All this with an open eye towards contemporary creation, experimental narrative and connections between diverse cultural contexts. The aim is to generate a space of real connection between artists, institutions and the public, and contribute to the international dialogue around media art.

Regarding the Catalan participation, seven galleries from Barcelona are part of the first edition, a presence that includes spaces with a consolidated trajectory and others that are younger, which are committed to hybrid languages and unconventional formats. We find names such as Albert Serra , presented by Mayoral, or the filmmaker Valentina Alvarado Matos , with FUGA. Also participating is Cecilia Bengolea , through Ángels Barcelona, and the digital studio Six N. Five , with Load Gallery. The Senda gallery is committed to a new work by Xavi Bou , while Sorondo Projects presents the work of Suwon Lee , and Suburbia Contemporary shows a piece by Giovanni Ozzola .

Loop Lab Busan is carried out in collaboration with the cultural agency A-Fluxion, the Busan Museum of Art and the Metropolitan City. The initiative aligns with a broader internationalization strategy of Loop Barcelona, which looks towards Southeast Asia as a territory of exchange and growth. In this scenario, Busan is a key city, as it has a cultural offer that includes its biennial and the well-known Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).
