The National Council for Culture and the Arts (CoNCA) reports that the writer Vinyet Panyella has decided to resign from her position as president and member of the Plenary for personal reasons. This decision will take effect on January 1, 2025, coinciding with the end of her five-year mandate (2019-2024). Vice-president Margarida Troguet will provisionally assume the functions of president. In the meantime, the remaining members of the Plenary — Jordi Font, Tania Safura Adam, Jaume Ayats, Salvador Casals and Núria Iceta — continue to exercise their responsibilities while waiting for the Parliament of Catalonia to appoint new members or renew the current ones for another five-year mandate.

In recent statements to Bonart , Vinyet Panyella stated that she is leaving happy and grateful for the experience she has had at the head of the institution. She wanted to highlight that she has exercised the presidency of the CoNCA with independence of criteria, with a critical but constructive vision to move forward, and with institutional respect. She valued the collective work and the support she has received throughout her mandate, while reaffirming that she has dedicated as much as she could to promoting the cultural development of the country. According to her, the reasons for her resignation are purely personal.

He also wanted to emphasize that, from his point of view, it is necessary for the CoNCA to foster growth in both personal and economic resources, as well as full independence from the executive. He highlighted the importance of believing in the institution and promoting change that allows its growth. He also made a positive assessment of these five years, stating that he leaves satisfied and with many projects ahead.

Below is the official statement from Vinyet Panyella, president of the CoNCA (2019-2024):

Having completed the five-year term since the appointment of the Plenary of the CoNCA on July 18, 2019, I submitted my resignation as a member and president of the National Council for Culture and the Arts with irrevocable effect as of December 31, 2024. For this reason, after discussions with the Plenary and the Management of the CoNCA, I sent a letter to the President of Parliament, the President of the Generalitat and the Minister of Culture on December 17, informing them of my decision, which is due to personal reasons.

I close the stage that I began in July 2019, which has been complex, intense and evolutionary, with satisfaction for the work done and with the benefit of experience and knowledge acquired in exercising the responsibility of the presidency of this institution, which I consider necessary and essential for the development of the country's cultural ecosystem, to which I have dedicated all my effort with a critical vision and with independence of criteria.

At the end of this stage, I would like to express my gratitude to all those people whom, for one reason or another, I have had the opportunity to meet and with whom I have been able to dialogue and work from their respective positions and responsibilities. On the one hand, the presidents of the Parliament and the Government of Catalonia and the heads of the Ministry of Culture for the last five and a half years, as well as the elected officials and members of the various state, national, local and supralocal administrations. On the other hand, the numerous members and representatives of the cultural sectors, as well as the various personalities who have collaborated with the CoNCA in one way or another. I also express my most sincere gratitude to the members of the CoNCA Plenary, with whom I have shared the decisions taken collectively, for the trust and support they have given me and for their constant dedication and effort, as well as to the management, technical and administrative team of the CoNCA office.

I return to exercising my vocation as a writer and cultural researcher, where creative and research projects await me, from my vital commitment to culture and the country.
