Casa Natal Salvador Daló has presented a new edition of Obres Convidades, in which original drawings from Salvador Dalí's first period related to his surroundings in Figueres and Empordà are exhibited.
The Obres Convidades area hosts works of different types and origins, either on loan from another museum or, as in this case, from a private collection, in order to offer samples to the public of the Casa Natal Salvador Dalí small format with original work.
In this new edition, drawings from the painter's first period are exhibited, where images related to Figueres and the Empordà emerge, which eventually become Empordà iconographies. This is the case of the various literary pieces by Empordà authors that Dalí illustrates, such as L'oncle Vicents (sic), by Josep Puig Pujades or El ritm de la revolució, by Jaume Miravitlles. The sardana is also a relevant theme during the youth of the painter from Empordà, as shown by the cover of Empordà Federal of October 15, 1921, dedicated to the composers Pep Ventura and Enric Morera on the occasion of the tribute offered by the association Brotherhood Empordanese In the room is presented a study in a "noucentista" key of this cover. Of these invited works, we can also highlight the programs for the Santa Creu de Figueres fairs and festivals in 1921 and 1922, with illustrations by Dalí on the cover, showing the artist's connection with his hometown .
The family is a recurring theme in the works of Salvador Dalí's youth, and remains present - like the Cap de Creus landscape - throughout his artistic production. It is precisely the family's support for the concerns of the infant Dalí that has allowed the preservation of works from when the artist was only between six and ten years old.
Coinciding with the opening to the public of the new edition of Obres Convidades, the marble plaque dedicated to Salvador Dalí, by the sculptor Artur Novoa, and which was installed on the facade of the building on August 12, 1961 on the occasion of the tribute that Figueres paid to Salvador Dalí, after the painter expressed his desire to build his Museum in the city.
Thus, once restored, the plaque will shine again, now inside the Casa Natal Salvador Dalí, after it was removed in 2005 when the rehabilitation works began.
