Reflections and perspectives on Joan Brossa at the Barcelona University

The event revolved around the publication of the monograph and served as a platform to discuss the importance and impact of the work of this artist, an interdisciplinary, transversal and groundbreaking creator, who, clearly influenced by movements such as Dadaism and Surrealism, ended up creating his own tradition.

During the session, the keys to understanding Brossa's extensive work and his influence on various artistic fields were exposed. His experimental, surrealist poems, wordplay, transformations of common objects and the ability to merge the poetic with the visual are essential characteristics that have made him a source of inspiration for conceptual artists and graphic designers and have led him to leave an indelible mark on the art world.

Key issues were also discussed on how to promote and ensure the dissemination of Brossa's work. Ferran Mascarell defended the importance of an effective state, with strong public administrations and sufficient resources allocated to culture. For her part, Natàlia Chocarro advocated the internationalization of the work as a tool for its dissemination and preservation, arguing that bringing Brossa's creations beyond our borders is crucial to keeping his legacy alive.

Miguel Marcos, one of the key speakers of the session, shared his personal and professional experience in promoting Brossa's legacy. Marcos' fascination with the correlation between the artist's visual arts and poetry led him to dedicate more than ten years to the dissemination of his work, exporting it abroad and experiencing his environment closely. Marcos, claimed the importance of continuing to disseminate his work through joint efforts in order to ensure the preservation and promotion of his cultural legacy.

The event, which served to remember and celebrate the work of Joan Brossa, as well as to reflect on its importance and the need to continue disseminating it nationally and internationally, concluded with the recital of the poem El Món, which served to recall the validity and power of the artist's words.
