The Spanish cultural scene adds a new international recognition with the distinction awarded to Nadia Arroyo as Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters, a decoration granted by the French Ministry of Culture to those figures who have contributed significantly to the development and dissemination of arts and culture in the world.

The award ceremony took place at the official residence of the French ambassador in Madrid, underscoring the close cultural ties between the two countries. Arroyo shared this recognition with prominent figures from the artistic and academic worlds: Estrella de Diego, professor at the Complutense University of Madrid and member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando; and Valentí Oviedo, general director of the Gran Teatre del Liceu.

A distinction with history

The Order of Arts and Letters, established in 1957, is one of France's most prestigious cultural awards. Its aim is to honor creators, intellectuals, and cultural managers who have made outstanding contributions to enriching the artistic and literary heritage and its international reach. The distinction is organized into three grades—Chevalier (Knight), Officier (Officer), and Commandeur (Commander)—and has been awarded to world-renowned figures in fields as diverse as literature, film, music, and the visual arts.

Beyond its honorary nature, this award symbolizes an active commitment to culture as a tool for dialogue between societies. In this sense, the selection of Nadia Arroyo recognizes a career focused on promoting art and building bridges between institutions, audiences, and disciplines.
