Wonderland: Annie Leibovitz's universe lands at the MOP Foundation

The Marta Ortega Pérez Foundation (MOP Foundation) opens the doors to Wonderland , an immersive exploration of the creative universe of Annie Leibovitz, the photographer whose work has shaped, image by image, part of the visual memory of our time. It is the first major exhibition dedicated entirely to her work in fashion photography, but also a journey through the roots of a vision that has captured the essence of each era. The exhibition can be visited at the MOP Center, on the Batería Wharf in A Coruña, until May 1, 2026.

Conceived as an emotional and aesthetic journey, Wonderland unfolds in four chapters that converse with one another like stations along a single narrative. The exhibition opens with an immersive installation that revives images taken during The Rolling Stones' legendary tour, a foundational episode in Leibovitz's career. The show then moves on to Early Years , where intimate portraits from her early days resonate: spontaneous scenes, fragile and luminous gazes that foreshadow the sensitivity that would define her future work.

The visitor then passes through Stream of Consciousness , a space where Leibovitz's photography expands into more conceptual, almost cinematic territories, where the visual narrative becomes denser, more dreamlike. The journey culminates in "Wonderland," the heart of the exhibition: a hundred images—many of them never before seen in Spain—accompanied by audiovisual installations that reveal the depth with which the photographer has explored the language of fashion. Here, her talent for transforming an editorial commission into a narrative is revealed, a carefully constructed scene that seems to breathe on its own.

The exhibition is complemented by a film and a publication created especially for the occasion: Annie Leibovitz in Wonderland. Both produced by the MOP Foundation, they offer an intimate counterpoint to the exhibition through the voices of those who have walked alongside the artist over the years. Bruce Springsteen, Patti Smith, Gloria Steinem, Karen Elson, Tina Brown, Mary Howard, and Phyllis Posnick share memories, processes, and conversations that illuminate each stage of her career.

Thus, Wonderland not only brings together the work of an essential photographer: it invites the visitor to pause in the territory where memory, culture and imagination intertwine, and where Annie Leibovitz's gaze continues to teach us new ways of seeing the world.
