Cristóbal Ortega's new project 'Travel Through' arrives in Beijing.
Cristóbal Ortega arrives at Hong Kong Art Space in Beijing, one of the epicenters of contemporary art, with his exhibition Travel Through , which can be visited from September 29 to October 26. Curated by Liang Kegang and organized in collaboration with the Miguel Marcos Gallery, the exhibition brings together a careful selection of works by the artist from Alhaurín de la Torre, in which creativity, thought and sensitivity are intertwined with rhythms and proportions, constructing his own distinctive visual language.

A dance of lines and the breath of emptiness intertwine with architectural metamorphoses in Cristóbal Ortega's abstract canvases. His free brushstrokes suggest geometric precision, chromatic explosions, and layered tones, creating a constant dialogue between color space and emptiness.
Doba's creative DNA constantly pulses with the structural thinking inherent to architecture. His training and early experience as a building designer sharpened an almost instinctive sensitivity to space, lines, and proportions, giving him an eye capable of perceiving the underlying geometry of everything around him. This profound understanding of how space is organized and distributed was not confined to the architectural plane: it carried over into the artistic realm, where it manifests in his works as a subtle tension between form and void, structure and freedom.

The concepts of "enclosure and partition," which in architecture define the boundaries of a space, are reinvented in Doba's work and transformed into latent structures on abstract canvases. Each stroke, each plane, suggests invisible walls, possible paths, zones of light and shadow that dialogue with each other, revealing a sense of order that doesn't constrict, but rather invites exploration. Thus, architecture becomes a visual language, and abstraction becomes a habitable space for the viewer's imagination.
Doba's work ultimately proposes an architecture of thought, where structure is not merely a formal instrument but a framework that enhances the aesthetic and emotional experience, demonstrating that architectural sensibility can transcend physical construction to inhabit the realm of painting and abstraction.
