On September 13th at 5 pm, the Sismografo cultural center in Porto will host the opening of Protótipos do desejo instituinte , an exhibition that focuses on the institutional transformations undertaken in recent years by the Santa Mònica Arts Center in Barcelona. The exhibition will be on view at the city's art center until October 31st.

The exhibition is structured around experimental practices that test new forms of institutionality, taking relational, collective, and performative aspects as their starting point. These premises allow us to redefine cultural spaces, no longer as static containers, but as living territories of encounter, interaction, and shared creation.

The proposal is part of the curatorial project launched in 2021 at the Centre d'Arts Santa Mònica in Barcelona, a research and action process that, on this occasion, opens to Porto to present a set of projects produced over the years. Gathered under different thematic and methodological axes, these works trace a map of transformation, where the cultural institution considers itself from within, with the desire to reinvent its ways of being in the world.

Agustín Ortiz Herrera, Antoni Hervàs, Assamblea Utopia Rambles, Beth Ferguson, Collectiu 1080, Giulia Grumi, Hogar Diska, Joana Moll, Las Mòniques, LEVE Project, Marina Monsonís, Mariona Moncunill, Sindihogar, Sofía Montenegro, Sara Dean are the artists of the temporary exhibition at Seismograph curated by Clara Laguillo and assisted by deputy commissioner of Marina Frean.

The exhibition aims to explore what an art center can be today, at a time when cultural forms and spaces of expression are fragmented and constantly evolving. This scenario is marked both by hybridization with virtual worlds and by the omnipresence of devices that tirelessly produce and disseminate images, transforming the way we inhabit and think about culture.
