A visual tour of Chile featuring 128 paintings and 300 coins at La Moneda Cultural Center in Santiago, Chile. Reflections of Chile. A Century of the Central Bank , curated by Juan Manuel Martínez and Pedro Maino in the Andes and Pacific rooms of the CCLM, is the new exhibition on view until November 11. La Moneda Cultural Center (CCLM) is located beneath the Plaza de la Ciudadanía, on the south facade of the historic La Moneda Palace, in the heart of Santiago, Chile.

A group exhibition featuring a wide selection of works from the painting and world collections of the issuing institution. The Andes and Pacific galleries of the La Moneda Cultural Center host an exhibition structured into six thematic areas, allowing visitors to explore a broad panorama of the representation of Chilean territory. The journey ranges from the contemplation of rural nature, through the processes of industrialization and urban expansion, to the different ways in which the country has been explored and visualized over time.

  • Inés Puyó, Flores.

The exhibition includes emblematic works by renowned exponents of Chilean painting such as Raymond Monvoisin, Camilo Mori, Celia Castro, José Gil de Castro, Ana Cortés, Alberto Orrego Luco, Onofre Jarpa, Thomas Somerscales, and Pedro Lira, among other key figures in the history of Chilean art.

A carefully curated selection of portraits, cityscapes, and still lifes reflecting a society immersed in an intense process of modernization, marked by rural-to-urban migration and profound social changes. Within this context, rural life occupies a prominent place, with works depicting typical scenes from central Chile: farm work, traditional celebrations, and peasant customs.

  • Onofre Jarpa, Gran Palma.

At the same time, the presence of natural landscapes, marine scenes, and depictions of wildlife offers a visual tour of the evolution of Chilean art from the mid-19th century to the early decades of the 20th century. These works reflect not only the technical development of Chilean painting, but also its search for a distinct artistic language and a growing interest in representing and understanding the national territory.

The artists exhibited in Reflections of Chile: A Century of the Central Bank are José Gil de Castro, Raymond Monvoisin, Antonio Smith, Pedro Lira, Onofre Jarpa, Thomas Somerscales, Juan Francisco González, Ramón Subercaseaux, Alberto Orrego Luco, Alfredo Valenzuela Puelma, Enrique Swinburn, Alfredo Helsby, Celia Castro, Alberto Valenzuela Llanos, Rafael Correa, Pablo Burchard, Pedro Luna, Ana Cortés, and Inés Puyó.

  • Celia Castro, Granadas.
