An immersive tour through the traces of memory, on view until September 14, is a visual exploration that unravels time to restore the story of a woman who challenged the codes of her class and gender. The Museum of Romanticism's temporary exhibition includes original documents from the period that provide context for Adelaida's life and work, highlighting a forgotten or silenced female historical figure.
Adelaida Martínez-Corera was a widow, mother of three, and guardian of three more. She took on the management of a building in the Lavapiés neighborhood, transcending the imposed limitations and becoming an active participant in a society that relegated women to the private sphere. Romanticism, the feminine dimension, the social history of Madrid, and the application of new narratives come together in the museum at 13 Calle San Mateo.
